Gujarat is located in the Western most region of India, on the northern Arabian coast, bordering with Pakistan. Despite having a long coastline, very limited coastal communities eat seafood or meat. Mostly Gujaratis are Jains and Hindus, hence the cuisine is primarily, or sometimes even strictly vegetarian. The food is generally spicy, sweet and salty. A typical Gujarati thaali consists of sweet and spicy Daal, Bhaat, meticulously prepared Shaak, super thin Rotli or crisp Bhakhri.
